Each song has been carefully arranged to boost the confidence of the young pianist, allowing them to sing along while they play. The great Hungarian pedagogue Kodaly believed that a child should first learn folk songs from their motherland and in their mother tongue; then songs from neighbouring countries; then gradually more exotic songs from further afield.
